FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions
Winter Park Long Snowboard Weekend 2008
What is different about this trip from other trips on the market?
1. This is the first all-snowboard trip open to the public that we have seen.
2. You are not alone! A professional host will accompany the group. The host is an experienced tour operator who has brought many groups to Winter Park and the Alpenglo Hotel. Our host Mark Braunstein is also an expert snowboarder with over 20 years experience on the single plank. So relax and come along for the ride, let someone else worry about the details.
3. You will be with other friendly snowboarders on this trip.
4. We are tailoring the trip activities for the snowboard culture and lifestyle.
Where does SnowboardSecrets.com fit in?
The editor/founder of SnowboardSecrets.com, Lauren Traub Teton is designing this trip to her specifications, for her readers and anyone else who wants to join us. Lauren has traveled extensively to snowboard events and beyond, and knows what makes a good trip.
Lauren will be on the trip to have fun and see that things go smoothly.
SnowboardSecrets.com is a web site with over 350 pages about snowboarding, including: how to’s, event coverage, fashion, pro scoop, photos of your favorite pros, and lots more. Lauren also created and runs: SnowboardEventsCalendar.com, SnowboardRegistry.com, and SnowboardProfiles.com. She competes in USASA in halfpipe and boardercross.
Are skiers welcome?
Of course! But this is a snowboarders’ trip, and any skiers who join us will be in the minority (for a change!)
Why is airfare not included in the price?
This trip is open to snowboarders from all over the US and beyond. The simplest way to offer the trip is for travelers to make their own arrangements to get to into Denver, Colorado. By using your airline frequent flyer points or finding a bargain airfare online, you can keep the trip price as low as possible and tailor it to your needs.
Can I add nights onto the package?
It is a great idea to arrive a day or two early in order to extend your vacation and acclimate to the altitude. (Both Winter Park Mtn. Base & Town are at 9000') Additional days can be booked directly with the Alpenglow Hotel 303-972-8866
Who’s coming on this trip, and are they male or female, single or not, and how old?
Wow. That’s a big question at this point, and we can’t answer it yet. Just be assured that anyone who comes on this trip wants to snowboard and have a great time! We are expecting plenty of adults (at least in age, LOL) That translates as people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond. We will start a meetup.com group as the trip gets closer, and that way you can meet your neighbors on the trip, and have new friends by the time you arrive in Winter Park.
What activities will there be besides snowboarding?
If you’ve got anything left after riding the mountain that Coloradoans voted their favorite, we are working on these “extra-curricular” activities:
"How to Choose the Right Snowboard Gear" presentation and informal fashion show at Showcase Snowboard
Snowboard Movie Night
Yoga and Stretching Class for snowboarding before and after
Massage Therapy available (for fee)
Club Dancing Night
Snow Skate Demo (It’s like a skateboard for snow.)
snowboard gear demo equipment available (for rent)
